Finally I cant avoid the iphone heat… and luckily I’ve got my parents living in Canada and they have friends going back and forth the American’s cities. And most of all they have friends or relatives coming back to Hong Kong and bring that lovely toy to me…

I have to admit, mine is the cheapest solution to play with an iphone!

The phone was bought a week before Apple announced 1.1.1 update of the iPhone firmware. I assumed mine was using firmware 1.0.2, which is perfect for unlocking. However, when I checked the serial number and also the emergency line trick, it said mine is firmware 1.0

So here’s what I did:
1. Restore the iphone to use firmware 1.0.2
2. Quit iTunes, and kill iTunesHelper thru the Terminal
3. Use iNdependence to activate the phone
4. Use Jailbreak and install openSSH/FTP thing <– I tried this several times and never succeed, so I finally gave up
5. I think, without knowing, Jailbroken the iPhone
6. Install AppTapp
7. Setup my iPhone to use WiFi
8. Install anysim.plist from iphone.org.hk, using the Safari in iPhone
9. In the iPhone, run AnySim (with my own SIM installed in the phone) <– but I realized that it’s a wrong step, dont follow!
10. run AnySim again, using AT&T sim this time
11. PowerOff iPhone
12. Swap back my own SIM
13. Use iNdendence to activate the iPhone again
14. tada!
