大減價真係會令人買左Ｄ唔係即刻有用既野！

我一向幫襯開申請 Domain Name 的商戶為新申請的 .INFO domain 做 promotion. 若幫襯它一個 Web Hosting Plan, 可以免費新申請一個 .info 字尾 的 domain 用一年，咁當然個 trick 係下一年續既時候一定唔會有減價，同埋唔包而家想用黎續期既 Domain 啦.但我係 Last Minute 都係決定申請一個，雖然冇幫襯 web hosting 既 plan, 因已經有用開又滿意的 service provider，所以新申請一個齋 Domain 都要俾錢，盛惠 ８蚊港幣！係咪都幾抵呢？ ＯＫ啦，有個網路既 Existence 就得，因佢既存在形式其實唔係好重要, 首先只係會用黎做 D 試驗性質既野，睇下市場反應點，一年後唔續或有其他減價野我再諗囉！

Just a record of what I have done to the installed wp2.

The new wordpress (v2) prompts me if I am sure when I edit a comment (while I am saving the changes). It’s not a javascript alert box but a white page only with a “No” history.back link and a “Yes” submit button. It’s raw cos I haven’t encountered anything like this in version 1.5

However, after pressing “Yes”, the big5 characters in the original comment somehow becomes scrambled. After locating this action in the wp2 scripts, the action is written in wp-includes/pluggable-functions.php, where the charset thing wasn’t inserted into the page. Since it’s a UTF-8 site, I just hardcoded it into the php file. Too lazy to lookup the get param functions…

It shouldn’t be an annoying thing for most of the blog writers since no one really likes to tamper with the comment content when they’re not spam. However, it happens to my another blog where it’s a multiple user family blog. I located this bug when I tried to migrate it server to server in a stupid way (rss and edited every post). Although I finally found a good way to migrate everything, I decide I should fix this bug too.

I will also file this bug in the WordPress support/development.

之前那些 spam 真的又多又煩! 每一天 login 回自己的 blog 都有數十個 spam, 等待我的審核, 導致我落下用來 filter spam 的 keywords 越來越多, 有一次, 連真的 comment 都當成是 spam 了, 又或會出現一些漏網之魚, 當時已經覺得那些 spammer 很討厭, 明知那些 comment 根本不會長時間登出來, 還會有人樂此不疲地加進別人的 blog 內, 消耗網路資源, 他們不覺得很無聊嗎?

昨日, 終於 upgrade 上了 wordpress 2.x, 並 activate 了 akismet 這個 plugin. 今朝進入了自己的 blog 後, 檢查了一輪發現它 catch 了三十多個 spam, 真是的, 24小時也不到! 若你還未 upgrade 你的 wordpress, 就算它新的 features 吸引不了你, 但為了應付日益繁重的垃圾留言, 所費的那些功夫也是值得!

Technology的東西真是瞬息萬變! 我在上年 (呀, 已經是2006年了…) 的十月才用 web hosting 給的 tools (installatron) setup 了一個關於飲食的 portal site, 用一個頗不錯的application mambo. 悠閒地左試試右試試, 用了兩個星期左右, 其實 site 的結構已完成得七七八八了, 只剩下重新裝潢那個網站的版面.

豈料, 今天無意中想去 mambo 的 site 看看有沒有 update, 到了 http://www.mamboportal.com

細看之下, 才發現原來 mambo 的原班人馬已經另起爐灶, 把他們一手一腳 develop 的 portal and cms application 重新命名為 joomla!(tm), 從 mambo 4.5.3 的 source 繼續開發, 希望可以繼承 open source 的精神.

原因我便不深究下去, 但以我這種私人性質 setup 的網站, 當然會是 open source 的最佳支持者啦, 我打算下載那個 stable release (1.0.5) 看看, 若功夫不太複雜, 應該可以在今天架起一個新的 joomla!(tm). 我想我會 leave 那個運行中的 mambo untouched了, 以免有甚麼難題我解決不了, 連那些已經輸入的內容也會遭殃.

I owned another website which mainly talks about food. I have been testing around to see if any publishing software can have the best result for this kind of collection.

Earlier, I have put my recipe collection into WordPress, yes blog-like, everything mainly sort by time. However, very soon after, it’s loaded with tasting notes and magazine clips, the category list growing annoyingly long and the website is totally not accessible for any info.
